hi guys

what is the best/easiest way to remove the paint?

i have the heat gun, i tried it for the first time on the stone sill at the back garden. oh boy! it was very hard work! i used the heat gun and a chisel. see pics below.

im thinking for buying a multi tool from amazon. i saw a video clip and it looks a very useful tool to strip off the paint with heat applied. good buy?

or any other better way?

thanks

P.S the multi tool cost about £50. so not too bad

thanks again

Have you considered using a chemical poultice? You'll need to find a masonry friendly one as some will attack mortar and concrete etc but they will make removing it much easier.

Edit, looks like the front wall (to the pavement) needs the mortar raking out and everything repointing.

What about tercoo rotary blaster
Not the cheapest drill attachment tool but
Used for paint /rust/barnacle stripping on boats and cars
Etc so should be up to it
Basically a rubber disc with tungsten carbide tips
Comes in single, double, triple disc form
The more discs the more carbide tips
Single would probably be fine for that
Basically it chips/shatters the paint off but because the wheels rubber it shouldn't damage the underlying surface
I wouldn't think

I take it you're replacing the upvc window given that the frame and sealant is now melted??

Ps. Dont use a paint stripper chemical near upvc either as it it will likely melt it.

Pps. Have you tried an angle grinder and poly paint strip disc should make light work of that.

In that case, if the cleaning approach doesn't work-out how you hope, you have the fall-back option of replacing the cills when the windows are removed.

thats the rear window, wont paint the window sill till new window fitted.

however, this thread is about the front yard, i need to remove the paints from the stone.

thanks

Ask neighbours what they did ?
if it's stone(doesn't seem to be limestone?) , not concrete, then wonder if Peelaway would react/dissolve, but, seems a pity you can't buy a small sampler,to try.

and poly paint strip disc
if, a wire brush doesn't do, it cant see why these would,
but, if they are like wire brushes, there maybe a big difference between chinese/eu products.
