I'm looking to register a .co.uk email domain for my review site because the free email accounts I normally use get blacklisted by most companies so they will never be read, that and @cyber-wizard.com looks very unprofessional! Anyway, I don't have the slightest clue where to start, I obviously know how to configure outlook, but what site do I use? All I want is a garuntee that my emails will not be blacklisted so get through and I can register @gundogreviewa.co.uk. And of course I want it to work! Suggestions please!

The email and subject should be fine, after all, I am emailing marketing department so it's not like I am emailing something unrelated. My main worry is my email simply not arriving to the person because it has automatically been deleted because of blacklisting. Would using a home mail server be an option?

I use 123-reg.co.uk for a few years now

Just can't be bothered to change so havent shopped about for price etc, but they have always been good.

I've used 123-reg.co.uk in the past, and they are OK. But their control panel doesn't support IPv6 glue records, and its a pain getting their tech support to understand glue record requests. If you don't need glue (i.e. not hosting your own name servers) or don't care about IPv6 then they are good.

Recently I've been using godaddy.

home server = home IP address = more likley to be blocked...

register with anyone and open a free gmail account point your MX at them, no one will block a google SMTP server...

I am using a .co.cc address at the moment. The server set up on outlook it mail.gundogreviews.co.cc but I assume this must connect via apex.0sites.org which is the SSL server listed. I don't really know how this works though. If I used my current domain with google aps would it be less likely to be blacklisted? I simply can't afford to be sending emails and not knowing if the person is receiving them.

In case it helps, I am basically emailing the marketing department of various PC hardware sites requesting review samples. It is vital that all the emails I send defiantly arrive, or I at least want to know about it if they dont. I have sent emails to a tiscali address and a mail.com (AOL) address to test and both have been bounced back, but it sent me a message saying it had failed to deliver. If I send an email and I do not get a notification saying it failed to deliver has it gone through?

Total n00bcake at this stuff!

If you are requesting review samples and expecting a response, get a proper professional sounding .com or .co.uk.

Well, I have recieved samples from Razer, Crucial, In Win, Xigmatek etc. with @cyber-wizard.com! Surprising really! I'm looking for a .co.uk address but I need to know that my messages will not be automatically bounced.

Thanks for your patience guys, OK, lets start afresh. Could you answer a few questions to help me with this:

1) What is it that gets blacklisted, the mail server, domain or host?
2) If I used my current domain with Google Apps, would it be google apps being blacklisted or where I originally made my account?
3) If I was a business, where would I go to get the most reliable service?
4) Would registering my current domain with Google Apps be a good option?

Once again, thanks for all your help, starting to develop a tiny bit of knowledge about this now!

I have a google Apps domain. Google has probably the best spam detection, and never had issues.

I've also modified the DNS records to point the domain to my DSL connection to run a web server. So the MX records point to google, and the A records point to my DSL connection. Its a cheaper option than buying mail hosting since google apps is free (the domain registration was cheap too)

1) the domain name and / or IP can get black listed, the server will not get black listed as such but if its IP is black listed it is then be default really blacklisted.
2) not sure, you are very paranoid about this black lsiting are you planning on spamming? (I doubt google would allow its servers / customers to get black lsited, I'm sure as soon as the thoguth you were spamming they would block the emails), when I say you spam I mean spam by being infected with a virus, but a normal smtp virus would not work with google apps
3) small business - google apps ( i have move several customers there)
4) not sure you can do that you can register with anyone and point you mx to google's servers
