best external harddrive

hello I have a macbook pro and realised i need to get an external harddrive to free up some space on the computer so I can reformat.

Most of my memory is taken up by media so want something relatively small , with a large memory and not too expensive .

Any ideas?

samsung story station - really good looking, really quiet, pretty cheap, good drives inside

Do you want mains powered (3.5") or USB powered (2.5")? I've got:

2.5": Samsung S2 640GB (£50)
3.5": Western Digital Elements

Both are cheap and have been reliable/quiet. I don't really think there is a "best" external HDD.
