HI, looking to replace the fans on my Antec Kuhler 920, they are very loud and beginning to get on my wick:( Anybody done this, if so what fans did you use, looking for good air flow and low noise. Read so many conflicting reviews im a bit confuzzled:confused:

I thought the 920 had settings so you could slow them down? 2400rpm will be loud but 700rpm should be pretty quiet. Is it possible to have it on a lean setting so it never maxes out?

If you do install a quiet fan (1500rpm or less) then you'll probably see a rise in temperatures of a degree or two, but a large drop in noise.

The stock fan is PWM controlled so you'll need to look at that option really, or look at other forms of control for 3 pin fans.

Thanks for the replies guys,

yes it does, the chill controll soft wear is very good just finding it tricky to balance liquid temps with cpu temps vs noise just thought a quieter fan would help. Got it set up push pull, Changed from exhausting hot air to pulling cool air in temps are better by a couple of degrees but a little bit noisier also at a higher pitch.

I have 2 of these on my h100, they are very good. They are pretty quiet at full rpm and silent when you lower their speed, and have knocked 5 degrees of my cpu temps from the stock h100 fans.
Was looking at this but its not a pwm fan.

I have a 620 and use 2 vipers in a pull/push setup.

I did a similar thread a few months ago asking about the GT 1850 and the Viper fans. In the end I bought a GT 1850 and compared it to the Viper I already had and their was nothing in it temps wise. I went for the Vipers in the end as they had PWM control.

Here's a link to my thread

Just put 3 of these in my case, and they're superb, take a look at the last review. It relates to an H100 Akasa AK-FN057 Apache Super Silent 120mm Fan - 4 Pin PWM

I would give these fans 6 stars if I could, absolutely fabulous performance. Replaced my Corsair fans supplied with the H100 with 4 of these beauties..all I can say is WOW..WOW......and WOW again. Completely silent, I have to keep looking to see if they are running, even at maximum speed they are completely silent...and still moving bags of air through the H100 radiator (my i7-2700K never goes above 50 C even in OC flat-out manic mode and still the fans are silent. Apache = silent killer = buy them now if you want cooling performance and silence.

Only critique is the colour, not my cup of tea but I don't care a jot, they are hidden at the top of the case. Great build quality and braided wires make them top quality kit.

At under a tenner each they are the bargain of the century..!

Looks good, shame about the nasty color combo. I have windowed case so would be in full view, might go for them and get the spray paint out.

You also get them in plain black :)

Went for vipers purely for a slightly higher cfm and pwm control.

I would probably get the Vipers for the same reasons as pgi947. :D

High cfm and pwm control, they should just plug straight into the pump of you're Antec Kuhler 920.

What you need is something with the lowest db.

Db is the loudness of the fan.

The lower the better.

Anything sub 16 is brilliant!

However you shouldn't believe a word of the descriptions. I doubt any fan over 250RPM or so could be as low as 16dB.

For reference 40dB is considered the noise level of a 'quiet living room' and 30dB a 'whisper quiet library'.

always very very true, I also very much doubt that any reviewer, if not manufacturer have put these fans into an acoustics lab and measured them, most of the time they use a £40 gadget (or even phone? lmao) to measure.

I can vouch for the performance of the Vipers however, at idle they sit at 900rpm and are (to my ear) silent, at full load my GPU fans still drown them out while maintaining great performance.

Hah, I used a phone when I reviewed the BitFenix Raider. But I did point out that it was merely to show the difference and wasn't really accurate.

Although it was better than the claimed levels, giving me an ambient volume of 41dB and 44-50dB depending on the case/fan speeds.
