Hello, i have recently built my first pc and today (after turning off the fans) i noticed that the stock corsair air 540 fans are very very loud, i want to replace these fans with some high airflow quite fans, i have no idea about the ideal fans to use so any help will be appreciated :)

thanks in advanced

Corsair's AF series spring to mind - either the AF140 or AF120, depending on the size you want. They're reasonably priced, too.

BeQuiet's Silent Wings range are a bit more expensive, but top, top quality if the one in my old PSU is anything to go by.

Ive got 3x AF120 and 3 AF140s in my 540 and with a fan controller, they are just about absolutely silent at 800-900rpm or so.

i dont have a fan controller and im not thinking about buying one for now so i want something that performs well and is silent

Well I have tried many fans now, even the famed Noctuas and Gentle Typhoons and everything running at max rpm makes a lot of noise to me. Perhaps I just don't tolerate noise as well as some.

Don't run them at max RPM - it's usually unnecessary, and certainly not needed most of the time.. Have your motherboard run the fans or get a fan controller. Worse comes to the worse, use the noise adapters to lower the fan speed on the Noctuas. Fans that shift a lot of air will always make at least air noise, because they are pushing the air - it's an inherent part of the job.

Corsair AF120 Quiet Edition, run via fan controller and set at around 700 rpm. Slience when surfing the net and faffing about, near to silence when gaming and turned up to 100%.

I have 11x Corsair SP 120s on my rads/case in a Carbide 540 case. When run at 1100 rpm (half speed) they are practically silent and keep things very cool. When I am benching, turned on max speed, they are loud but offer amazing performance.

All through 2 fan controllers of course.

Corsair AF is probably the way to go, though if you want something a little cheaper you can definitely find cheaper, speed controllable fans on the OcUK website, though probably not as quiet and good quality.

I have a total of 6 bequiet fans. 2 that came with the dark rock pro 2, 2x120mm and 2x140mm. Combined with a high watt psu whose fan never ever kicks in, my pc is ultra silent and the bee knees in speed. Thoroughly recommend it!

Combine with asus fan expert 2 and you'll haves. Truly silent pc

Anyone else with a 540 think it's worth modding the bottom unused HDD caddy's by adding a fan or two there and raising the case off the floor?

I don't think it would be too much trouble but have not measured to see which fan(s) would be perfect for the job.

Replacing all the fans with quiet ones would be the ultimate goal to a controller for semi-silent operation but good air flow.

Why raise it off the floor? It's on rubber feet as it is, so air will still get in no problem.
