Best file browser (Gnome) ?

Sorry,

I meant file browser (as per the thread title), ie for looking at directories and files on your own machine.

With Nautilus I don't like the 'new window per folder' view. Browse to "/mnt/share/movies/HD/Action/Die Hard 4" one folder at a time an you have windows all over the place serving no purpose.

In the other browser view (more like Windows explorer), all I wanted to do was find the size of a few files and their permissions. It would not let me right click the files. Every right click brought up options for the folder and not the files. I also had issues trying to find the size of a folder and all the files in it to the point where I dropped to a terminal session and just ran 'du -k'.

I appreciate that it is likely to be the case of me getting used to the browser and the way it works but I would rather not have to re-learn this stuff or configure the browser to the way I like. I have more than enough fun sorting out Samba, two network cards, DNS & DHCP on the server to require any more :D.

Thanks will take a look at your suggestions.

The tree view version is available under the applications -> system tools ;).

Thanks
