Hi all, sorry for the slighty long winded thread.

ok so next week im of on holiday for a whole month and want to block the pc access so the staff cant facebook, youtube etc etc adn sit on their butts allday!!

ive blocked sites in router (BT fusion business, gateway 2wire.net)
but i can go to say facebook and it comes up with content blocked, which gives me 2 options: 1 override which needs my password, 2 takes you to settings. which is pretty useless as soon as i press settings it takes me inside my router settings!!

i cannot find a way to log out.

i can also jsut reset the password easy as when entering password it says "forgotten password" to which you press and all it does it asks for wep key and new password. again TOTALLY USELESS!!!!!!

so i need a GOOD firewall or a way to block sites which they cant override.
the pc only has 1 account and i know what some might say but this is how i have the pc set up.

so is there a decent firewall they wont get passed or a script or something to stop em!!

If it's just a short term solution you want to stop non-geeks, I would just blacklist sites you want to block in the Windows Hosts file.

There is a good guide here for this here: http://allthingsmarked.com/2006/08/28/howto-block-websites-using-the-hosts-file/

Alternatively, consider using OpenDNS which lets you selectively block categories of web sites e.g social networking. Again trivial for geeks to bypass.

Failing that, get a router with better firewalling options, or a hardware firewall :)

EDIT: if you really want a host-based firewall then Comodo is pretty decent, http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/

All these methods are useless if the 1 account these people are using has admin privileges.

Download and install Website Blocker software on your computer. Only add the URLs of your choice and select whether you want to block a specific page or whole website. Hopefully, it will help you.

ok found an easier way!!

not the best but the staff in question arent very computer illiterate.
