Best Firewall?

I know it has been asked many a time, but I'm just thinking of re-installing windows. So am looking for a good firewall. (also my current f-secure one keeps forgetting which programs are permitted to connect to the net, forever throwing up dialoges asking for confirmation)

For antivirus I am using F-Secure, mainly because I've been using it for a while but also because they seem pretty up on the new virus's etc, with the development of their new rootkit protection (BackLight), also it includes ad-aware pro.

On the firewall I already have a custom iptables+snort linux firewall/router which everything goes thru. But I just want a nice firewall which will allow me to do some nice app and port filtering, with the addition of IDS. I have heard loads of people recommend zonealarm but the last time I used that (few years at least) it was pretty buggy, caused problems and ended up making me re-install windows just to get rid of it :(.

Sygate looks like a popular one aswell, altho I read the support and development has stopped. Outpost and BlackICE look ok tho, The blackice IDS looks pretty good.

I'm leaning towards outpost atm due to the features and also the plugins :)

I would go for sygate but if the dev and support have stopped, the protection against new stuff isn't going to be too brilliant :(

Kerio, Free and plenty to offer! Check it out!
cool, looks pretty good :)

might give it a try. I have installed outpost and it passed all security tests but now whenever I run thunderbird it just crashes out :( the plugins I wanted to use don't work on the latest outpost either  good job I tried it before doing a new install.

cool, kerio and tiny seem to be rumoured to be the same :)

The problem with outpost/thunderbird seems to be some sort of conflict with email scanning of f-secure and outpost :( was reading outpost + norton has a similar conflict.

Am off to install kerio now :)
