Best firmware for Asus N66U

The thing with Merlin's is you get to use all the proprietary stuff that hasn't been open sourced, like the hardware acceleration module, or the Broadcom radio drivers, but with added features that aren't in the default Asus firmware.

For good qos support you'll probably need one of the ones like dd-wrt, Merlin is good if you want to stick with something similiar to stock but with better performance, stability and more advanced options for existing features but doesn't add much extra stuff like some of the other custom firmwares. The standard qos is a bit lacking - though if your using it with a bt vdsl2 modem for fttc hardly needed as the modems usually ship with upstream qos to stop any one application using more than 90% of the available upload.

It's an RT-N66u i have.

Apparently just enabling QOS give a massive drop in performance with these, so i'll leave it off for now and see how i get on. I'm just about to stick Merlin on it...
