Hi guys

Ive been training on and off but have never really bothered about eating the right foods, it seems its more impotant that i thought.

What do you recommend before and after a workout and before sleep?

i have a workout programme and i train every day, working the same area twice a week.

I play football on a thursday night and when i finish i go straight to bed, i never eat.

Ive been doing some reading and i think i shoud eat maybe a tuna sandwich on white after football maybe with some milk?

Eat lots of food, you need a lot of calories.

I think an hour before workout you'd want some combination of carbs + protein, and post workout a protein shake.

You need loads of carbs and fats in your diet, these are the most calorie dense nutrients

Its not about specific foods as much and more about a good overall diet, including plenty of fresh fruit, veg and non processed stuff such as cuts of meat, eggs, cottage cheese, oats, brown rice, fish etc.

i have muesli for breakfast, 2 pieces of fruit, roll and a yoghurt for lunch and usually chicken or fish, jacket potatos and salad for dinner

whats the beast meat to eat is spaghetti bolonese good

Those weight gain massive tubs that you mix with milk do actually help. You don't have to use it all the time, but when you are too tired to make a meal downing one of those can tied you over.

Tempted to close this thread for all the crap's that's being posted.

Strange, though I was in GD for a moment :D.

Take a look at the body building thread at the top of the SA forum as Boscher has said, have a look through some of the "Want to get bigger / fitter" threads on the first 3 pages as they have loads of info in them from myself and lots of other people. Have a stroll through my 'progress' thread or Toms or the gym rats thread for even more info.

After doing a bit of reading, feel free to ask some more targeted questions and I am sure you will get lots of help.

I think it would be awesome to have a seperate sticky dedicated to diets on what you need to eat for bodybuilding or getting rid of weight. It could have recipes etc from fellow cooks in here:)

Egg white is the best food for bulding muscle.....

I stand corrected, Whey protien is now the No1.... But bloody expensive, so I'd still go for the egg whites (with some yokes, no more than 3 a day)

All depends on convenience and how much you want to spend on diet and supplements.

The Tuna sandwich and glass of milk is a good easy to make post training meal and would be far better than eating nothing.

Since when was whey more expensive than eggs?!?!
And no, buying small tubs of maximuscle doesn't count here :p
