Was wondering whats the best value card to go for to run BF3 with all the trimmings, its not actually for me but have a friend who is looking into it.
I have a case, and some HDD's coolers etc he could use, but not really up on the GPU side of things for gaming, so was hoping for some advice.

That build would certainly do the trick :) You'd need to make sure your mate's PSU's up to a 480 though. They're power hungry beasts.

Belongs you don't run Prime and Furmark together you should be ok with 600w, I used mine in a Overclocked i7 920 system and managed to get 615w from the mains.

I noticed with my i7 2700k the power absorbed is siginficantly less.

Excellent stuff, I forgot completely about the PSU, so we are talking the guts of £600 really then.

Im not going to get into oc'ing the machine, i wanna help build it for him then be able to walk away lol.

you could trim the cpu down. BF3 is more gfx demanding then cpu so maybe scale down to an i3 or Pentium and use the money to beef up the graphics.

If you are not going to overclock then you could step it down to a H61 Motherborard and possibly an I3.

The GTX 480 is going to be fine for BF3. Its about the same speed as the GTX 570.
