Best FREE software firewall?

Ones i've used in the past

Zone Alarm - I didnt like it too much, wasn't very customizable.

Sygate - It seemed ok and had plenty of options, one of the best??

Windows XP built in jobby? Is this good enough on its own?

Nvidia Nf4 one? People say avoid this like the plague, I have, is it that bad?

Could you recomend some others? or should i stick to one of the above. Its been a few years since ive had the need to use one, and im not sure if better products have been released since.

Personally i still think sygate is the best. Even though it is no longer being updated(bah you symantech) its still a solid, easy to use and configurable firewall.

Windows Firewall (if you've got a ADSL/etc router - come with hardware firewall) :cool:

Yeah this is the thing i dont anymore, I switched from ADSL to NTL.

I was using a wireless Linksys job but I hated it so i ditched it, now im direct from the NTL 250 modem into ethernet.

Shame to hear about the sygate one, that was good.

It is very important and you should have an antivirus software, firewall and spyware cleaner type software. You should also make sure you update and run them reguarly

Unless something has changed it's 30 day free trial with extra web filtering etc but the firewall itself is free to keep using after that.

Vote for ZA here, tried other and I always come back to ZA. Just tryed the microsoft spy remover, so far it seems good even if it is a beta. got it a guru3d but im sure you could get it from MS site.
