I know it should be in windows but everyone uses the internet.

Im using norton antivirus and firewall at the moment but would i be better off with avg or avast and a free firewall aswell? ive tried free virus protection in the past and it seemed fine but sygate seemed to slow everything down.

what do you use? virus protection and firewall?

Avg and windows firewall ;), norton antivirus and firewall really didnt like my computer and slowed it right down something silly :rolleyes: .

norton is the slowest of the slow.

this should be in doze software :/

i personally dont use a antivirus and only use a hardware firewall

Then put it there. If everyone just put things where they wanted them, we'd only have 1 forum.

avast firewall is excellent, if a little ugly (for the rare times you need to use the GUI).

Avast gets my vote, I've used it on several PCs for the past couple of years and had no virus problems or at least if I have my PCs are still working which is good enough for me plus it gets regularly updated.

Oh and no separate firewall. Windows firewall annoys me so that gets switched off as well.

Hi there,

Quite a bit discussion on it here:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sh....php?t=17578120.

====

Sum up that thread:

You should have an anitvirus software, firewall and spyware cleaner type software.

Best Package of Software if you have money to spend

* NOD32
* ZoneAlarm Firewall
* SpywareBlaster
* CCleaner
* Spybot Search and Destroy

Best Package of Software if you don't have money to spend

* AVAST
* ZoneAlarm Firewall
* SpywareBlaster
* CCleaner
* Spybot Search and Destroy

Pretty much the same apart from the antivirus.

Hope it helps!

Kaspersky and kerio personal firewall here. Works very well.

I did have just a hardware firewall and and windows firewall and after formatting windows i got the your computer will shut down in 60 seconds thing :(
