best free website ?

your gonna struggle to get 'decent and free' what are you looking to do with the space, if it is just for hosting pictures then i suggest going another root.

thanks for the suggestions so far, yes it is totally free that i want. to host pictures and text nothing fancy like CGI, PHP etc.

I was thinking of geocities but is there anything slightly better ? I dont really like popups.

cheers

Yes, they're bad, but that's no excuse for swearing.

Who is your ISP? Sometimes they offer free space

I'm looking at the spec of your PC and trying to fathom why it must be 'free'. For the equivalent of around £1/month you could have some fully featured UK webspace with no popups, downtime, general slowness and generally less hassle than trying to get something for nothing.

If you have your own domain name how about Award Space They do free no banner hosting with a limit of 200MB of space and 5GB monthly traffic as well as email addresses and other such things.

ok thanks, i'll checkout those websites. my ISP is Pipex.

Adz, which host were you thinking of that does it for £1 a month ?

cheers

You'll find a few on www.ochostreview.co.uk in that sort of price bracket.

If it does have to be free, I would strongly suggest using your Pipex webspace (if available) over any of those US based 'free' providers. It'll be much faster and more reliable with no ads - you can then spend a few pounds on a domain name and use a free framed redirect to the Pipex page.
