I am wanting to get into a Freelancer type game, ideally a MMOG without any subscription!!!
I have been reading about Darkstar One, just wondered if there are any opinions about this game...is it any good.
I've also looked at EVE Online which looks interesting but is it difficult to get into?? (and how much is the monthly subscription?) (is it worth trying the free 14 day trial?)

I like the idea of a universe trading and building with a bit of fighting thrown in.

Any opinions??

As a Freelancer fan myself (I wish they would at least announce they gonna make another) IMO Darkstar one is just a big disapointment, its the same style as freelncer but it has no depth or big story. It's just do a lot of repetitive missions, kill this guy, kill that gang then move onto the next system and do it all over again at a slightly higher difficulty with your upgraded guns.

As for eve I've played the months trail but found it to be too slow and boring if you can't get into it (like most MMOs) but its a totally different style to freelancer since its just point and click you dont actually have direct control of the ship. a lot of people here do like it so its definatly worth trying the trail.

eve is realy a game you have to try, it takes a little while to get into but is well worth it!

I was a big freelancer fan, used to play for hours but it started to get a bit limiting with the number of people on line never being enough for a great game!

As for EVE, ive now got 2 full accounts and ive been playing for around 2 years.

Its great! It can be a bit slow when having to do long jumps from one system to another and as has been said, you dont have direct control over the ship, but you soon get used to it.

Download the trial, do all the tutorials and then get yourself into the OCUK corp a great bunch of folks, we train noobs up and then once youve got a decent grasp on the game you can go off and do whatever if you want. The 14 days is enough to give you a taster but you really need a good month of play to feel fully pulled in :D

Try it, its a FREE trail and youve nothing to lose, except your social life if you like it :D
