Best FTP Client

Anyone have any recommendations as to the best FTP client? Previously used WSFTP Pro but not too keen on it.

Dont mind having to pay, but would need to have a trial version so I can try it first

Flash for the win. I use it all the time. I have also used Filezilla which is also good.

Does anyone else find if you lose your connection to the server you have to restart the whole program to make it reconnect? using the reconnect button doesnt work?

check the settings you should be able to make it auto-reconnect

I was using the FireFTP extension for Mozilla but wanted something else. I tried the WSFTP client which seemed pretty good but the SmartFTP client is so much better and as has been said is free.

WS_FTP is pretty good. It also has a keep alive setting, so your connection to the server never times out, which I find very handy.
