Best fuse box brand?

I've decided to update my old fuse box from the old standard to the new with switches.

This is after having to faff around changing one of the fuses.

Any recommendations for the brand? There quite a few, some people have said MK are good, other Hager.

Any advice on the latest and greatest box appreciated. They seem to be £80-100 but would pay a little more if there's anything awesome about it.

I'll be going from a 6 fuse to a 10 fuse as I may extend into the loft in a year or so.

It was aimed at the OP.

Also, was it a fuse wire or a cartridge type fuse? does the cabling have any pvc sheath on it at all and what are the colours?

My box is the same as that apart from it only has 4 fuses and another box with just 1 for the cooker/hob.

Would like a new up to date box too but don't want to go through a complete rewire.

My reason for doing it is two fold.

Firstly it's a pain to change out any fuses. You literally make a fuse using these little bits of wire wrapped round a screw. For some reason it's tripped a few times in the last month so it's moved up on my annoyance radar. Rather a nice new box where you just flip it up.

Secondly it's going to need to be changed anyway. Not by law (which is probably coming) but rather because when I extend into the attic i'll need more than 6 fuses so it's a job waiting to be done.

It's actually a fine box, had a full certified check on it 9 months ago.

I think an electrician would charge anywhere from £150-200 to do the rewire....
