Best future proof mobo for core 2 duo and quad core?

I currently have an Asus P5WD2 Premium mobo + Pentium D 930 overclocked to 4ghz.

I am thinking about upgrading to a new mobo + intel core 2 duo cpu next year.

Which motherboard will be most future proof and compatible with both core 2 duo and core 2 quadro? Two pci-e 16x slots for sli will be preferred. I prefer Asus motherboards.

I guess it depends on what you mean by future proof, as you could either go for speed or features, but if Intel change the chip type (ie like what AMD did with the 939 - AM2) then both would be out of date.

but if your going to buy now I guess the best would be the:
