Clearly FF VII > all other intros. The panning out from Aeris to encompass the whole of Midguard, then back in on the train - spectacular.

Then there was Space Hulk- Vengance of the Blood Angels. Loved the intro for that.

(best quality one I could find)

For some reason I also really like Vandal Hearts on the Playstation, very minimalistic but a catchy tune.

I like an intro that has some funky music. Cannon Fodder, Red Dead Revolver etc lol.

As for intros that set the scene I think Half Life deserves a mention.
