Okay just bought the C2D E6600/2Gb Geil ram/Gigabyte bundle with a BFG 8600GT OC from OcUK to upgrade my aging system running XP. going to be a very pleasant change in performance!

question for you - what would be a good game to show off what my new hardware can do? supreme commander? c&c 3? S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SoC?

stalker will eat your card for breakfast so i would say sup com not that its graphically intense. maybe something like cod2 or new tomb raider.

Quake 4.
Good frames even with all that action.

lawl :p

Big multiplayer online fps game. You'll notice the difference in the big servers so try a battlefield 2/2142 64 man server or something like that.

If you want to bring your system to its knees, try something like Oblivion or the Lost Planet/DIRT demos. Should be able to get that puppy well down under 30fps in places :)

nice rig m8 i knowstalker brings my old rig to its knees u, have a good setup and its a game that seems to run better on xp, ive tried it on my nephews system on vista and its a disaster

FSX with SP1 installed.

People have been posing on Avsim that FSX is an overclock killer with SP1 both cores now in use and systems which are stable on Orthos/Prime have been BSOD'ing!

And you can buy FSX from the UK division of South American River for £9.97 at present.

What about grabbing that Colin McRae DiRT demo, that's discussed in other threads in this forum.

That's the first game I've tried to really make my system struggle.. at least on Ultra mode. FPS in the teens, if that!

V1N.

EDIT: if you do want to try it, just had a recheck, and this is the fastest link I came across. Came down at 730-750k per sec for me.

Have fun! :)

thanks again everyone

Been looking forward to DiRt for a while now and the Xbox 360 demo is excellent, it looks gorgeous and is great fun (esp the dune buggys).

Probably grab quake 4 and stalker for a good work out. i hear stalker is a big resource hog.

Bring on Bioshock and Hellgate: London !!
