You need to remove competitor names and prices its against forum rules. We can spec you up something better for price.

Nice looks good but why go for the I5? when you could get an i7 2600k that I've listed above for £40 extra?

take a look here :)

You need to remove the link as well, see previous post as to why ;)

And yes the i7 only adds hyperthreading which is great for CAD work and video editing etc. Games don't support it.

Oh just that I was told an I7 2600k was more future-proof and value for money versus an I5 you know over the course of lets say 2-3 years?

Who told you that?

Cause only one games springs to mind which ever supported HT, that was Shogun 2.
It was pretty much dismissed shortly afterwards and never used again.

Also I doubt game manufactureres will code for it because AMD CPU's wont have it which rules out a large part of the market.

The x79 (socket 2011) possibly could be more future proof as Intel are releasing more CPU's in Q3 this year, but as far as Sandybridge goes, it's older tech, Ivy is better.

Oh well i do plan on Recording and rendering video too, I do occasionally/regularly post videos on YouTube such as game walk-though/reviews etc

Alright thanks for the advice mate, very helpful anything other than the processor look out of place or am i good to go? just curios to see another persons opinion :)

I wouldn't go with the spec you posted, look at the above and consider one of them instead.

For a good all rounder for gaming and encoding I would balance it like so.......

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM £161.99
1 x Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7850 OC Windforce 2X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with Tomb Raider & Bioshock PC Games £161.99
1 x Plextor M5 Pro 128GB Extreme Series Solid State Drive - (PX-128M5P) £99.95
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £79.99
1 x BeQuiet Pure Power L8 530W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply - With 120mm Silent Wing Fan Built in £66.95
1 x Zalman Z9 USB 3.0 Midi Tower Case - Black £54.98
1 x **B Grade** Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache - OEM £45.00
1 x Cooler Master Hyper 612S CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £32.99
2 x GeIL EVO Leggera 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GEL38GB1600C9DC) £31.99 (£63.98)
1 x OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £18.98
Total : £801.80 (includes shipping : £12.50).

Yes you lose the hyperthreading but you get a better GPU than the 7770. Check what your encoding software uses for acceleration, it might use Quicksync that you get from the CPUs IGP and I'm sure the GPU will be supported to boost the process too, overclocking it will help....the 7850 loves to be OC'd ;)

16GB of RAM colour coded to the mobo. The mobo has a 3 year uk based warranty and a dual (UEFI) BIOS which is nice. Will happily OC the i5K and I've uses the OEM i5K to help pay for a good quiet heatsink.

Case is packed with kit for the price. 500W (ish) is ample for a single GPU setup, this Bequiet is dead quiet and modular making your life easier for cable management which in turn helps case airflow (ie lower temps).

Good fast 128GB SSD, it's a rival to the popular samsung 840 PRO (standard 840 isn't great to be honest). 1TB of storage, yes it's B grade but plenty of capacity and the saving helped pay towards the faster SSD ;)

Hope this helps. Any questions or god forbid problems come build day you know where we are :)
