Best Gaming Engine (last 10 years)

I felt that the power creep that has now become the norm with mainstream engines wasn't going to be as bad when source hit, I felt that things looked bright and hardware upgrades at a reasonable price and pace.

I just don't see the 'number' of games using an engine as a reason to vote for it as the best engine.

I still consider the lost coast to be an amazing show of its ability, I cant wait for Source 2. I hope they continue their frugal use of resources that us gamers have.

Interesting side note: There was still bits of Quakes engine in the HL2 Source engine when it released lol :D

Not really sure who/what that comment is aimed at, but presume it's Unreal 3 as that did power a boat-load of games.

That wasn't really the point. It was a great solution for developers to license so they could just get on a create the game they wanted (I already named lots of games that are utterly different from each other on post #3)

But, like the Source engine it does also scale brilliantly, hence you've got Gears of War (2007) on Xbox 360, Batman: Arkham Asylum which runs great on lower end hardware (DX9) and then you've got things such as Bioshock: Infinite that look great in DX11 and the forthcoming Arkham Knight which looks amazing....true next-gen

Unreal Engine 3 is good but I don't like the way it deals with AA....I dont like jaggied edges....

I'm going to say source engine for slickness and metro engine for wow factor....
