Best gaming headset / headphones and mic

Hi all,

So I'm after a new headset, my trusty old sennheiser pc166's are starting to show wear.

Budget would be ~£200.

What's the best I can get... I am looking at nice pairs of sennheisers and a seperate mic, such as the HD598's, but I really want something similar with a mic built in...

Beyerdynamic DT990 PRO seem like a viable non mic choice too?

cant see them for that cheap westie.. also think its overkill without an insane soundcard / amp.. perhaps i should get one of those too ^^

edit: yeah looks like a need a decent headphone amp.. cheapest one beeing a fiio e7 + e9 combo for like 190£ or something.. but even that is a bit on the cheap side.

All of a sudden its ~£450 for a headset

my sennheiser pc166 are about 6 years old and going strong still

so they have a lot to live up to

disagree west - from everything i've read it wouldnt be worth it without a decent stand alone amp / dac

from what i quickly read in seemingly knowledgeable reviews / audio forums, they only share their basic design with the DT 770's, and otherwise perform differently.

so much conflicting advice across the interwebz on audio
