Looking for a high spec laptop to play todays games. Got a Dell XPS and while its good when it works the after sales service is rubbish. Left me with a broken laptop from last thursday and still nothing to help fix it.

So, with a budget of about 2K, what laptops are crackingly good for games...

In all fairness, it is between xmas and new year.
You're lucky they even had someone in to answer the phones.
I'm sure all your problems will be sorted out once we get through new year and everything gets back to normal.

Do you really think any other vendor would have provided a better service at this awkward time of year?

We use Dell at work and their support is very good. Almost as good as NetApp. Would highly recommed Dell myself, but thats just my personal opinion. I have an XPS M1330 laptop and can't fault it for what I need it for.

I am sorry mate, but when i pay £200 for a day warrenty.... i do expect it fixed or rerplaced the next day. If it said, 'apart from Xmas and new year weeks' fair enough, but it doesnt..

The excuse we got was the engineer put a letter N for the post code for Manchester.... doesnt look good when the enginner cant work out something that simple.

It also broke 4 months a go, on a web site there are lots of XPS users who have the same issue and dell know about it. They are dragging their feet and did no have the curtesy to even ring us, we rang them after stopping in all day Thursday and Friday for the promised Engineer...

So, again, maybe its hard nosed of me, but when i pay for a service, i expect them to at least do what the contract says, they didnt... 1800 for the laptop and 200 extra for the warrenty, worth nothing really as they dont turn up...

<ColiN> - if Xmas is such a big deal, employ people who dont celibrate Xmas then... Still they are meant to come out today and fix it, will see how it goes...

Im sorry - i work 3rd line support in Leeds, we have staff on at Xmas day and new years day capable of fulfilling the contract we have with the end user of a 24/7 support..

This is what i thought the 200 quid warrent, which was extra, was for...

So to me, what ever day it breaks, it should be fix the next working day, not the next conviniant day. took them 4 working days to get an engineer out. To be fair, the engineer got here, looked at the laptop, smirked and got on with it... seems he has another 1 of these to fix today and its the same fix.. replace the MB, screen and graphics card..

I still say a next day fix sould mean next day fix...

<ColiN> - not unreasanble, just want my laptop fixing...
