Best gfx card to go for?

The 580 is around 15% faster than the 570 or the 6970 but GBP150 more expensive (!!) if you can find it in stock...Up to you to decide whether there is money in that.

The 570/ 6970 are around 15% faster than a 5870.

I'd go for either a gtx 570 or a Gtx 580, I just made the switch back to nVidia after about 8 years with ATI and I love my gtx 580 !!

580. Also switched back recently from ATI dual GPU 4870x2 to a 580 and it's been glorious realising that games played on a single GPU card with good driver support can be a near flawless experience.

AMD's angle is that they will sell a chip slightly inferior but at a lot cheaper price than the competition...

Thats how they market both the Phenom 2 CPU's and their GPU's.

Extremely chuffed with the 6950...+ it unlocks to 6970. I havent done this because I can max out everything and get more than acceptable results. I dont see the point in a faster gfx card at the moment! I would probably say the same had I bought a 460/5850 mind. I only play BC2 at the moment :)
