As per title, what's the best card for a SFF new build?

Its been so long since I looked at the gfx card market, there are just millions of the things now.

I don't care if its ATi or Nvidia, just confused what the best pick is these days.

Well, I don't know the rest of the specs yet, this is the first bit Ive looked at. But prob something like Q6700, 4gb whatever ddr2, an f1 750gig hd.

It's my dads new pc, he is currently still on a 1280 x 1024 monitor but he'll A prob change that at some point for a ws one and B, the pc needs to be fairly future proof as he prob won't change it for a good 5-6 years.

well at that res a 4770 is ideal imo. Otherwise grab a 4870 1gb or something but there is considerably more heat.

so is a 4770 better than a 4850 they are both about 80 quid, is it not worth spending 50 quid more for gaming any more ?

Just today I was trying to decide between the 4870, 4850, 4770 and gts250 for my downsizing.

Went with the 4870 and you should too :D

When you buy your Shuttle make sure the PSU can handle the parts you buy, as replacing the PSU with a more powerfiul one is expensive.

Go to the Shuttle website and check the supported graphics cards. I'm currently looking for a gfx for my shuttle and the probs i've found is the physical size of the gfx card and the power consumption.

Got a 4870 in my Shuttle - it has a 400W PSU.
Although the GTX260 will fit in there - I tried - on my system it needed more from the PSU (Q6600, 1xHDD, 1XDVD).
Best card for the money at the moment has to be the 4870 imo.

Got an XFX 4870 1GB in my SX48P2 Shuttle (450W) and very pleased with it. My case temps don't rise much above 45C

There are others with non reference coolers fitted (see the Gainward thats on offer now) if you want something that runs cooler. Mine idles around 55C.

I'd say avoid the 4770 unless you can get one which sends the hot air out the case (full dual slot cooler).
