As title says I have about £120 +/- 10% to spend. I am currently using a HD5770 which hasn't caused me an issue over the last 3 years, it still works fine.

Games I play are BF3/4 and some MMO's. I also do some light CAD work, Revvit, Sketchup pro 8, Autodesk inventor.

PC is used more for light gaming than work.

rest of the specs are [email protected], 8 Gb of Ram, 650W Antec PSU.

I was going to wait for the new AMD CPU's but in all honesty at my budget I think an 7850 is better value. Am I right?

don't know the value of those particular games now, but when I was buying some Nvidia cards few weeks back, I've sold about 6 Splinter Cell codes for £25 each over a 1 month period and there were plenty GTX660ti and GTX670 deals going on at that time, so there was enough supply.

Personally I wouldn't go second hand with a graphic card due to warranty worries. The 7850 is a substantial step up over your 5770, you'll get roughly double FPS (or more!).

If you can stretch slightly, I'd recommend the 7870:

it does come with 2 free games.

here's a benchmark review showing a chart with a lot of cards at the bottom of each page - 5770 can be found near the bottom, 7850/7870 in the upper middle. so you can salivate over the improvement you'll be seeing.

I have a friend who went from 5770 to 7870 about 6 months ago, and he has been very happy.

This is the only card that fit the budget:

But unfortunately it only comes with 2 years warranty. You might have better luck looking for 7950 elsewhere, but can't really point you to the right direction due to forum rule.

A word of warning is to avoid XFX. Their "so-called" warranty ain't worth the paper it's printed on. Their service is so bad that even OcUK have problems doing rma with, and needless to say OcUK has now stop stocking XFX graphic cards altogether.

Yeah, the R270X isn't great to be honest, although AMD are adamant it's not just a 7870....
7950 all the way.

I thought the R270X was a 7870 LE at first tbh.

The 7950 is very good at this price level I think, it was the 3gb that convinced me. Some games are over 2gb usage so that has helped performance I think
