Hi all,
So, upgrading the rig in my sig to;
I5-13600k, ASU’s Prime-P WiFi, 32gb DDR5, 2TB SN850X (already got all this)
Not sure what to upgrade the 2070 to though. Usually go for nvidia, but really not so sure right now.
I almost exclusively play FPS games and I know that some nvidia cards performance better in UE based games and AMD better in IW based ones.
The 6950XT ‘seems’ to be generally a bit better than the 3080 Ti at a similar price point.
However, I’m holding off in anticipation of a price drop. Undecided about buying a used card.
I’ll not be having a brain fart and dropping over £1200 on a 40 series. Anyone doing that ought to have their a$$ removed, unless it’s for rendering.

Also, if I move to AMD would it expand my choice of gaming monitor? Currently use Hannspree 32” 324 (g sync compatible), but there seems to be more (and better priced) freesync ones available.

Any advice much appreciated on all points above, thanks.

The 6900 XT is worth considering over the 6950 XT unless you can find the latter very close in price. The 6900 XT is often available for well under £700 now, whilst the 6950 XT is quite a bit more for only ~6% more performance. If I was spending much more than that, I'd wait and try and get a 7900 XT.

As for adaptive sync, your current monitor seems to support FreeSync and just about every monitor on the market does these days. Most of those will also work with Nvidia cards however, since Nvidia finally gave in and supported the open standard. You can get unlucky and find monitors that aren't Nvidia certified and have problems however.
