Hi guys,

I've got a budget of roughly £350 and was looking for recommendations for the best options.

I was looking at two Asus R9 270X DCUII's and crossfiring. I might be able to push the budget a bit to crossfire two R9 280's, or a single 290.

I intend on using a 1920x1200 monitor and obviously looking for best performance in gaming.

The PSU I plan on buying is a Corsair AX860 and as far as I am aware, this would be suitable to crossfire two 280's.

Any sort of feedback is appreciated.

Cheers! :D

Why should the OP send the extra for an NVidia card when he only mentions AMD cards in the OP.

Because he didn't specify that he wanted an AMD card even if he spoke about them, and he also specified that any feedback would be appreciated.

??

He did specify £350 though.

If you want someone to spend over their budget you really need to justify it.

He did mention roughly, then in the next two sentences mention he could push the budget.

I've got a 290x and I'm only suggesting the 780 due to his resolution, the fact that crossfiring for relatively equal performance that you can get in one card isn't a good idea in my opinion plus it's not unknown that AMD cards are definitely having a rougher time with drivers and issues this generation.

You're the one with all the graphics cards under the sun but I'll still give my opinion non the less.

EDIT:
Should have made it clear. AMD is the major preference.

290/290x then. :D

The GTX 780 is a really good card and performance wise is on a par with the 290P, unfortunately if you did go for the 780 it does tend to cost a bit more than the 290P. I only mention the 780 so you know how it compares performance wise to the 290P.

A pair of 280's if you can manage, or a single 290X if you can push it (with the option of another down the road, this would be my choice tbh)

I'm guessing this is for a 1080p monitor...

Never let me or anyone else put you off giving your opinion how ever many GPUs they own.:)

As to drivers I find the 13.XX drivers for AMD work pretty good for one and two cards but they have got some serious work to do for 4 card setups to make 4K a pleasant experience.

Yeah I've been pretty lucky with mine to be honest, probably because I don't play BF4:rolleyes:

Saying that though I'm probably looking at Nvidia still though rose tinted glasses since the last card I had from them was the 8800gtx and that thing was the best card I've ever used(at the time ofc!)

290. Don't bother with the 290X unless you're heavily into benching; there's so very little between them, I doubt you'd ever notice it games.
