Hi,

I was looking into overclocking my graphics card but I was just wondering what is a better test to check stability between Valley Benchmark or FurMark? (or others)

Thanks

3DMark catches out GPU core/mem instability a bit better than the Unigine benchmarks, in my experience. But I like running the Unis anyway*. They have a new one called Superposition. Have no use for Furmark.

* It's easier to leave Valley or Heaven or Superposition running in a window, while you make adjustments to your OC. Once you see artifacting or crashing, lower the OC. And when it's Unigine stable, try 3DMark to verify.

Didnt know you could change on the fly.. I used to just run ful valley test then add 25mhz to gpu..

Will give that a go instead. Im sure before whem trying the best i got was +20% power and going from 975 to 1150mhz.

I downloaded 3DMark and Superposition to test my GPU Overclock out but I need to know if I done this right.

First I ran FireStrike and near the end I got "INPUT NOT SUPPORTED" and black screen for about 30secs, it then came back on and done the Stage 3 Combined Score. At the end I got a score (~5000) but it said: "VALIDATION WARNING!: Graphics driver not approved".

It also done the same thing with SkyDiver (~19000).

Does this mean the overclock is stable? I only re-installed Windows 10 the other day with a fresh AMD driver install.

No, something is causing the driver to crash and its more than likely the over clock.

If the driver doesn't crash at stock than you know 100% that your over clock caused it and you need to lower it.

Ok I will re-run SkyDiver with stock GPU settings and see if I get same error and update this post...

Ok I reset the settings in Afterburner and ran SkyDiver but got same outcome except my score went down to 16000.

I have my CPU overclocked could that be causing it?

I find real gaming more of a stress test. I can get heaven stable and have no issues on benches and then crash due to core issues in overwatch after a couple hours.

Yeah l have been playing some games and nothing yet so hopefully it is good.

What I did notice about 3dmark error was I have a later version of amd catalyst than 3dmark wants.. so possibilty my driver just hasnt been updated on the app.
