Best GPU possible on Gigagbyte EX-UD5 (PCI-E 2.0)

Corsair HX850, so should be pretty safe.

Don't want to spend hundreds and hundreds.

My main worry was that I am limited to certain cards as the motherboard is so old.
 
Is your i7 920 overclocked, because if it isn't then you might just be bottlenecked with some of the more powerful cards.

Maybe swap out your 285 for a erm 285... :p or a 960 both coming in at about £150.
 
A 970 works fine in my brothers UD3, so should be OK with yours.

Secondly, grab an X5650 from the bay and unleash the beast!
