Hey Guys

I am buliding a budget PC which consists of used parts and PC specs are as follow:

Intel® Desktop Board DG43GT Motherboard LGA775
CPU : Q9550 @ 2.83 GHz
PSU : 500W (80+) (Brand New)
RAM : 7GB DDR2 800Mhz Semi-Dual
Storage : 500GB HDD & 60GB SSD

I have heard the most powerful gpu you can pair with this cpu is GTX960 2GB but I am wondering are there any other cards which are cheap but value for their money used. I have offer for GTX 650 1GB GDDR5 for £30 should I take this card for its price or are there others which I should consider.

Thanks

Very persermisc here, the Q9550 is around half the power of my 2600K. :>

A GTX 670 would be a decent match for around £50. Though it could use a RX480 and get a reasonable amount of usage out of it depending on application. :)

The question should really be, I have £xx budget what's the best I can get for it?

750ti?

I had a 6950 (equal to 560ti) with my e8400 @ 4ghz and it was a huge bottleneck in battlefield 3 (barely 30fps compared to 70+ when I switched to a 2500k)

Yes a ryzen 1200/1300x with a 1050/1060 would be much better and with 8gb of ram at least.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £364.96
(includes shipping: £10.50)

If you upgrade too that expect a performance boost for sure.

Thanks for all the replies guys I have EVGA 500w, Bare in mind this is not a budget brand new pc this is budget pc -5 years 2012. I have just finished building the pc today and lucky for me it worked first time, didn’t even need to change the OS or format the hard drive the motherboard swap was very smooth. My budget is around £50 MAX and I have gtx 650 1GB lined up for me to accept for £30 which I don’t think a bad choice since other gpu mentioned above either go over the budget or not available at current time.

I had a Q9550 running 4GHz on a nForce 750i board - handled GTX470 SLI fine which was around GTX680 performance - even when running them at 900MHz and sticking a 780 (GHz edition clocked to about stock 780ti performance) in for a test though it was bottlenecked it wasn't a waste of time putting it in there - wouldn't go anywhere much beyond that kind of GPU performance level though as definitely wasn't getting the most out of the 780 so anything faster is going to be a lot more wasted.
