Best GPU Value / Performance / resell value Nvidia card

Hi,

I want a new card to work with 3d Modelling and Unreal game Dev work, i currently have a GTX 1080. ideally i'd like to get a 5080 24gb Super but that could be a good 8 - 12 months away. so i am considering buying a Nvida RTX card to plug that gap for 3D and Unreal 5 work. Once the 5080 comes out i'll sell it and buy that. i am wondering what inexpensive card as a stop gap i should get that will do everything i want and hold its value so i can put the money eventually to a 5080 super.

The other option is i just suck it up and wait.

This whole generation has been a bit "meh". Don't think any of them will particularly "hold their value". Maybe just buy something reasonable but cheap(ish) - 16GB 5060Ti. Decent step-up from what you have, and unlikely to lose you bajillions of pounds like a more expensive card.

I do 3D rendering in Vray and there's such a huge jump in performance going to RTX. My "Rendering" card history has been:

Titan X (Pascal) Was rubbish
2080ti Though not much better for gaming, the rendering was really decent uplift.
3090 Huge improvement
4090 Insane iimprovement
5090 Not tested it yet

The biggest up in performance was the 4090 that was nearly double the 3090 in RTX rendering. RAM is deffo a big issue though for rendering and you really want more than 16GB.

You just missed the boat as yesterday I sold my 3090FE for £400, that is a great 3D Rendering card. Took a nice picture of the 3090FE, 4090FE & 5090FE together

TBH it might be too big for my SFF case Meshlicious anyway. but yeah looks mint as you say.

It is a chunky boy, felt the largest of the 3 actually, even though the 4090 is thicker. 5090 felt tiny in comparison.

If I had to be new, I'd agree with that. The 5060 Ti 16GB. You can get them under £400 and being nvidia, a Ti and 16GB will always hold some interest on the used market.

The 5070 is a good (performing) card, but £500 is a lot for 12GB and if a 18GB Super comes out that will crush demand for the 4070/5070.
