hi i am building a very high end gaming rig and i need to know which is the best graphics card at the moment . which would you recommend ( must not be a fanboy of either :P) GTX 590 or 6990 .. my budget is up to around 750 pounds
thanks for any help

Resolution? Multiple screens? There's no point spending 750 just because you can. If you're only playing at 1080p then a single 580 will be fine. Maybe two 6950s, but with ATI's poor driver support recently (not releasing drivers that support crossfire for new games until days/weeks after the game has launched) I would go with Nvidia.

i will be using a 32 inch so im not sure what to get .. + i rather go with a 6990 because i know it will be good for a longggg time :P

also i was going to get 2 6950 in xfire but someone told me they wont last long because of the mass amount of heat produced and give me problems so i not sure :/

32 inch so I'm assuming it's a TV and so 1080p? That heat thing is a load of ******** and that "someone" can fairly be ignored in the future. No point going for multi-GPU if you're only playing at 1080p. Get a 580. If you want to spend the extra money get a 3GB version so you're better prepared for newer games.

This

Don't confuse physical size with resolution. It's the same number of pixels as a 20 inch 1080p screen.

580 is the best unless you want to do multiscreen and then ATI is a better bet.
