best graphics card for £170

i think it would be best to move to pci-e as you could get a X1800 and a new motherboard (if needed)

What games do you play ?

What current graphics card and cpu do you have ??

THIS, but I'd aim for a 7800GS. It would really help if you provided rest of your specs, especially PSU, to tell you if it will work/really worth-it/etc :D

pc isnt exactly great. running a 2500+ AMd processor got an antic true blue power supply and a Leadtek K7NCR18D Pro II Deluxe Limited motherboard currently got a radeon 9500. dont really play any games on pc.

Then assuming you are changing cos the 9500 is dead/dying, just buy something for £20-30.
If you are not gaming on the PC, theres no point paying for a gaming card ;)

If not gaming, then you can put your £170 to bringing you up to date (A64), e.g.:
  • Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 (Socket 939 & Upgradable to AM2) AGP & PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-002-AK) £36.95
  • AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 90nm (Socket 939) - Retail (ADA3000BPBOX) (CP-117-AM) £59.95
  • OcUK Value 512MB (2x256MB) PC3200 184pin DDR Memory Dual Channel Kit (MY-005-OK) £21.95
  • Subtotal £118.85
  • Shipping (City Link Parcel Next Day (Delivered Mon-Fri)) £8.25
  • VAT £22.25
  • Total £149.35
Keep the 9500 until when you can afford a AGP/PCI-E card (mobo can accomdate both) that can really appreciate the above setup :D
