Hi guys!

I do apologise for the topicality of this thread - I appreciate tons of people have asked the very same question before (and will continue to!) but alas, the market is a constantly evolving paradigm.

Could those wiser than me please tell me what the best choice for my hard earned £200 is right now?

This purchase is to replace a Radeon 4890 1GB in my 2nd rig (based around a Silverstone SG03). However, the case will be changed for a Bitfenix Prodigy (and a new ITX mobo) when it is released. With this in mind, length will not be a problem.

Also, this rig will be gaming primarily at 1920x1200.

Many thanks!

Tom

An overclocked 7850.

Or a 6970 on offer for £215 if you don't want to bother with that.

On the green team the 570, or the gtx 480 if you dont mind the heat, etc...

Last option would be a Gtx 580 from the members market.

MSI 6970 Lightning, one of the best coolers out there.

Asus 570 DirectCu II, also one of the best coolers out there.

6970 > 7850 from a quick look at benchmarks. The above link also gives you an incredibly cheap price.

570 > 6970 from a quick look at benchmarks. The above link also gives an incredibly super++ max cheap price. The DirectCuII is possibly the best air cooler you can buy with a card, the Lightning cooler is good too, but iirc the DirectCuII is better.

1920*1080 BF3 6970 marginally quicker, Skyrim has 570 marginally quicker then 7850 then 6970. Once that goes to 2560*whatever then the situation only oes in favour of the 7850. Not knocking the other cards just saying that at the prices the 7850 offers a pretty good collection of comparable FPS in most games, lower temps and power cosumption. You surely have to think there is more headroom in the 7850 to come (not even considering the OC'ing). Not being a fanboy just think the 7850 is very well placed at that particular price point with all it has going for it and maintaining excellent performance.
