Best graphics card for 50 quid?

50 pounds is the most my gf has to spend on a new graphics card to run some medieval sims game :s anyone got any recomendations? pref something pretty quietish, looking for new rather than 2nd hand.. thanks!
 
You'll get a LOT more for your money 2nd hand, is it really essential that it has to be new?

This will be ok for £50, passively cooled so will be silent. However if you can stretch to a little more then get this.
 
+1 for a 5670 ddr5.

However, I'd say your best bet it to look at the second hand market. If buying brand new either pick up the afore mentioned 5670 or if you are running a high resolution then aim for the 1gb version.
 
+1 for getting second hand 4870 or 4890 if you can find one, they are not however 'quiet', or at least not that I have heard. ;)
 
I found a 40 quid 512mb 4870 on the bay for a mate, maxes out starcraft2, so medieval sims (like stronghold?) should be fine ;)
 
Thanks for the help all, think i'm gonna go with the DDR5 HD5670, tho all this reading of reviews and browsing the OcUK store has got me wanting to build a rig again! darn it! but what's happened to the FOP38s and Coolercase Extremes XS!
