Best graphics card for £50?

Second hand is one of those things that it is really difficult to recommend one card over another, as different cards can sell for different amounts. It is better to look at one of the many charts that show GPu performance compared to other cards and then look for second hand cards in your price range and see which ones are furthest up the list.

One list that you can use is this one (in the spoiler below), from PClabs poland

It is not the best but it does give you a rough idea of the card hierarchy.
(I'm sure someone can provide a better English example)

AMD's drivers have a higher CPU overhead, but I don't think it's relevant here. Any card he's picking up for ~£50 isn't going to be CPU limited, because it just won't be powerful enough.

This is what I was looking for. Look at the first video about 2 minutes in. They are using a 280x which is more powerful then the ones suggested for OP but bare in mind they are also using an I3 which is far more powerful then OP's cpu. The much weaker 750 is outperforming the 280x when running on the I3. The same will happen using a core2 quad and weaker gpus.

Hi guys, I have seen some single fan EVGA Nvidia GeForce SSC Super Clocked GTX 650 Ti 1GB cards on ebay for around £58, I think I may go for that what you guys think? I want to get a card ordered asap :) forgot mention it has to have an HD output for my TV.

I've got a gainward phantom 660ti but i'm in Sheffield else you could have had that had you been more closer.

Well it's slower than the 560Ti which go for around £40 or less.

I presume you mean HDMI input for your TV? It doesn't need an HDMI input as you can get DVI-I to HDMI cables for less than £5

Sorry for not explaining this in my 1st post.
I have my PC hooked to my TV and Currently I have no sound coming from my TV. I do have turtle beach's but I want to be able to play sound through my TV, I was told if I remove my current (8600gts) DVI card and put HD card in it will play sound through my TV (Think the HD cable carrys audio & DVI doesn't).

I also want better graphics for the few games I play :D

@ JanM How much do you want for your card and does it have HD output? I may travel to Sheffield if its less than an hour each way from Salford.

Ah that's why it helps if people are totally clear about what they need. ;)

So you use the right terminology it's an HDMI input/cable and yes you will be able to send the audio over it to your TV, so you will need something with an HDMI input.

Ps. You've broken one already, you don't want to get a suspension by breaking another: no trading outside of the MM. (Better read those rules!) ;)
