Best graphics card for Athlon 1.3 system?

I'm building up an old computer for my brother based on an Athlon 1.3 gig, 512 memory etc etc. Was just looking for a graphics card to put in it because he wants to play wow online. What's the best one that would work? Looking to get a second hand one at around 50 quid or maybe new if I can get a good enough one.

Nothing really advisable around £50, i'd say save up for the 7600GS at £72.

If you're happy to buy clearance then this is a quick little card.

Yup, im sure you can find some second-hand 7600's on ebay or somewhere or you could check out the MM when you have 250 posts

With an Athlon 1.3 I'd say anything new is going to be pretty much wasted. You might want to look for something like a radeon 9700/9800, or maybe a geforce 6600/gt second hand, I imagine they are pretty cheap these days.

Yeah the Radeon 9700/9800pro is all you need. Still a very good card I reckon.

i still got a 9800pro in my vista pc, it scores over 4 in both desktop and games performance test in vista.

Doubt it, one of my mates has been playing it fine on his p4 1.6 ghz wilamette ( about the speed of a 1 ghz p3) since wow been out and haven't heard him complaining, a 1.4 athlon is something near a 2000+ or something right, should be more than enough.

It will be held back offcourse, thats not the question, he only needs a card for WoW and a 6600Gt will do more than enough with his cpu to run it at acceptable (over 30fps) framerates.

Just to clarify I'm talkin about an old 1400 athlon, not a 1.4gig athlon rated at 2000 odd... i.e. the ones whose younger cousin was the duron.

i think i definatley prefer nvidia cards from past use, plus i have a 6800 ultra myself.

what would be better considering the cpu bottleneck and price difference, between a 6600gts and 7600?
