Hi all

Just wondering if it was worth upgrading the graphics card on my system. My PC is now fairly old and don't know if it would be worth it. The budget would be around £150. Current specs are:

Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.0
8gb DDR2 800
Asus Motherboard (Forgot the model but its not a crossfire board)
AMD 6850HD 1GB

I am thinking my CPU is going to be a bottleneck. I am currently gaming at 1920x1080.

Thanks

The whole system needs replacing really, but you could get a 7850 to get the most out of games that have lower CPU requirements (like most shooters).

Awesome will look at that thanks. Trying to put off replacing it really (currently in the process of buying a house so funds are tight). Maybe if I put a 7850 in I could get another year out of it :)

Yeah I'd agree I think a new cpu/mobo/ram upgrade should be on cards. I'd be surprised if you weren't already bottlenecked by the cpu with your 6850. You could probably get a decent bundle second hand for less than £200. Something along the lines if an i5-2500K, Z68 board and 8GB RAM.

Most console games use little enough CPU that they'd run fine at higher settings and 1080p with 60fps+.

Obviously this isn't going to run BF4 or Arma, etc.
