Hi currently reffitting an old pc of mine that died a while ago and tryna turn it into a mobile editing rig, best value for money?
Specs - i5-4690k, 120gb ssd, 1tb hdd, h87i plus asus motherboard, 700w fsp (700-801UK), can fit up to a 30cm card in it
Any suggestions would be helpful thanks

for that CPU I think something in the RX570-580 range would be ideal. Should be able to pick up a 4GB 570 for around £120 new.

If you can answer the following someone will be able to give you a more tailored recommendation:

- budget?
- what editing software will you be using?
- how much RAM do you have?

If you have sufficient cooling I'd also say overclock that CPU a bit, if you haven't already!

budget £0-200 tryna avoid hitting top end of that budget, software is hitfilm express but im looking at either getting adobe premiere pro or Vegas Pro Edit 17 in the near future and 16gb ram, and i would overclock but its a H87 ITX board with no real overclocking ability, and ill keep that noted

well the RX570 series would definitely be an improvement for both video work and gaming over the on-board graphics in that CPU.
All the software you've mentioned supports GPU acceleration - you'll need to search for benchmarks to see whether there'd be a benefit using a nVidia card instead

This is the cheapest model on OCUK:

I've just looked up that PSU model you quoted and it appears to be a server style PSU - you'll need to ensure it has a PCI-Express 8 pin power connector for the card - note this is different from the 8pin EPS CPU connector that goes to the motherboard!

shame overclocking is not an option - you may be able to set the all core boost frequency higher than stock though, so it will at least hit 3.9 or more with all cores rather than 3.5, with 3.9 single core boost.

Also, if you're looking at Vegas pro edit, keep an eye on humble bundle around December - they've had bundles including Vegas pro edit 14 and 15 in the past for $25!

Hope that helps!

Thanks! and yeah it does, thing is ive beeen resurrecting an msi Nightblade Mib and the only psu that would fit are seemingly fsp group 1u psus and they are either 350 or 700w anyway thanks!

You need at least 16gb RAM and need to state what software ie Adobe stuff uses Nvidia hardware to improve encoding etc.
