Best graphics card without a power connector...?

Hopefully its not a low profile vostro model in which case your choices are more limted

Big coolers should be avoided on most dell models there usually isn't the room next to the cooler or the extra backplate for dual slot coolers.

give us the mdoel number at elast

Hey,

It's an mATX board in a "full height" case I think...don't know the actual model number, I'm sure something 4670-sized will fit easily, but I will make sure with my spare 7900GT before ordering!

Cheers,

Suman

Hey,

Quite possibly the most bumped, yet least solved thread of all time :p

The mate mentioned in the OP has just had his graphics card go kaput (the 8300GS).

So the question is now more pertinent than ever - what is currently the best card without a power connector? He said some more horsepower would be nice, but I assume this is a given since it's going on 5 years from that post :D

[edit] nVidia would be best!

Cheers,

Su

Are the prices of the cards here not a bit absurd?....

3-5 year old cards for £50? Out performed by a £70 low end new gen.

May as well just buy a new PSU, a decent card and then when he goes to upgrade in the future he can move them over. Unless he's skint :p

Well he's had 4 years to save up so hopefully he can afford a new PSU now as well.

Hey,

Thanks for the replies. Gibbo makes a good point. I think my mate is just going to get a cheapo £30 card for now, and then plan for a whole new system later on this year. Probably makes more sense!

He doesn't do any hardcore PC gaming btw - mainly older RTS and Indie games.

Cheers,

Su
