Well i've finally managed to get my hands on a 8800 gtx 768mb, wonderful thing, runs everything i can throw at it on full settings, cod4, bf2 etc..But i'm left wondering, why did i bother? I mean, it's great, i CAN tell the difference, but well, not £250 worth of difference!!

Is there a game out there that'll push the little bugger till it starts smoking?

p.s still glad i got the thing:D

Crysis and to a lesser extent, bioshock are high spec PC worthy and give good results when used on one.

It isn't what i would call demanding, but X3 has always had the ability to make me go 'oooo' and 'ahhh' at random moments, really makes you feel good about your system too as it generally runs silky smooth while looking sexy as hell.

Crysis :D
Don't get mad when you discover that your card won't slice through the games FPS, Crysis is really badly optimized in many ways and it uses a lot more memory than any other game. I'm really happy with the situation right now, everything from the GT up plays every game except Crysis perfectly on most resolutions, Unreal Engine 3 is really working wonders, CoD4 too etc, CoD4 even ran fine on my 8600GTS which was a replacement card for a short while, and that card really really sucks.

Gonna be even cooler when 9600 comes out :D

Oblivion looks very nice as well.

Go for a walk around the countryside on a sunny day and it looks fantastic.
Trouble is it always rains when i play :(

you bothered for the same reason we all bother.

A lot of people say that but I found it played much better then stalker (which seemed to stutter no matter what settings I used) and better then oblivion !
Infact it played without a hitch !

stalker stutters cos you need to update the game to the latest patch.. this also happens in my machine until i updated it

I was using what I believed was the latest patch ,but would still get some stuttering when running in open spaces !

Good game except that pda beeping every couple of seconds in populated areas  played it in mute in the end !

This is exactly the feeling I had when I bought my x1950xt. In some way you expect the graphics to be better than they are... It runs so smooth you wonder if you wasted your money lol.

Honestly.. the smoothness is what we all crave, and when we have it the excitement has gone. So you haven't lost anything, your purchase was great. Stop focusing on the graphics and ENJOY THE GAMEPLAY. The graphics are just one element of the game and you'll soon get used to it.

Install S.T.A.L.K.E.R., install latest 1.0.0.5 patch, then install lastest version of float32 by jjwalker. Turn everything to max and enjoy the game :)

If you really want to think you didn't waste your money then try Crysis. Should play ok on your system on High setting in dx9, above that and you'll then realise why everyone else wants a better card.

Problem i've had is that it brings out the flaws in some games, for example i never realized when i played on a low FPS, but bioshock actually has some pretty awful ragdoll physics, when i saw them originally i just assumed the low frame rate made it look weird, however when i saw it run fluidly it just made it look worse.

plug it into a HD tv and then play some games :P looks a lot better, then try Bioshock, Crysis (your card will die on anything but high/med settings) or even assasins creed when it comes out :)

they all look stunning!
