Hi all, these are the details I've been asked but I know nothing about Apple.

Recommendations please?

Edit -
It's a Retina 16 inch late 2013 with 16GB storage and has USB ports

Do you mean external hard drive?
If so, depends on budget.

The Lacie rugged thunderbolt drives are very good.

What an idiot I am. Doh. Yes, I meant external hard drive. I've seen the Lacie ones reviewed but was unsure.
I've seen Samsung SSD drives rated and Western Digital, although they were not SSD.

Unless your willing to shell out on something with thunderbolt, I’d just get something USB from a reputable brand and call it done. I’m it’s your choice on the SSD vs HDD.

There isn’t much more to it that that.

I've seen the thunderbolt and how they use a different interface, but wasn't sure if it was really worth it or if other users have a left field choice.
SSD is my personal preference however if they are just using it for storage then speed isn't an issue.
