Time to get a new mouse mat. I'm not a fan of cloth mats as I like my mouse to glide effortlessly across it. Have been using an old plastic everglide for years but it's old and ugly and I figure there has to be some new tech out there. Price is not a concern, I'm just looking for the absolute best mousemat that provides the most frictionless movement. There seems to be good offerings from razer, steelseries and everglide but they all get such good reviews that I just can't decide, and it's not always clear if the surface is grippy or slidy.

Which mousemat would you recommend?

Black Glass Icemat.
Glass simply does not wear out and returns to brand new status with a 5min wash.
Cloth and plastic mats are a joke. I went through all 'the best' mats when I used to play competitively.
Icemat was by far the best. I still use it today, 4 years later. I wont be replacing it.

Try and find somewhere with old stock of the Large Black Icemat v2.
Failing that I think they're sold under the Steelseries brand these days.

Been using Razer destructor for some while now and I have to say it's pretty damn good, the mouse just moves without any effort on it, I'd highly recommend it. Plus I just looked and its gone down like £6 from when I bought it, so even more of a reason to get it.

I would have to agree with the two above - I had the exactmat first which was very nice, now using the destructor which isn't as stiff but a nicer surface

Simple:Razer Exactmat

Best of both worlds, has two surfaces, one for control and one for speed. Made from aluminium as well so is solid.

I ordered one today for delivery tomorrow so will update with what I think of it.
Another vote for the Razer - I have used many mats and this is by far my favourite.

I had the Razor Control but after a few months it got clogged up with dust and just lost its smoothness so went for the Exactmat instead - much better for me when used with the Razer Copperhead:)

I use a Steelseries SP mat and it's the best mat I've used (with my Deathadder).

I've had it for a couple of years now and it's still perfect.

What mouse do you use by the way?

I'm in the same position and leaning towards a destructor + logitech g9. Interested to hear any more thoughts generally - I just don't get along with cloth mats at all for some reason.

everglide TITAN! ive got the monster one its great:D durable and smooth as!

edit : just read the hard surface definitely a steel mat:D keeps ur hand nice and cold:D

using a roccat kone.

good suggestions btw, can anyone elaborate on what surface the razer destructor is. is it cloth or some kind of hybrid?

I bought a Razer Lachesis, and a Destructor mat. The mouse has teflon feet, and the mat provides enough resistance for good control, plus it has a large area which I like.
I would heartily recommend it.

Used a glass Icemat before and found it cold and uncomfortable as it was slightly raised.
The Destructor is very thin however.
