Best HD7950

Gigabyte Windforce X3 is highly recommended by most owners. The Sapphire Vapor-X (apparently) does not have voltage control so probably best to avoid thix.

Was not aware of this and if important to you then would agree that it's best avoided.:(

But would mention the fact that in one of the reviews I read (Hexus?) it did talk in terms of increasing the voltage to get a better overclock. I did not read that many and it may be that the review I read was the exception but there is hope?

If ,like me , the op would not be looking to overvolt then it still looks , imo, a good buy - partic. @ the today only price

N.B. I have not checked the forums to see if the retail products are , in fact, voltage locked - might be worth a quick search to check.

not 100% but sure i have seen somewhere that the card can be updated which then unlocks V adjustment.
after doing some research i am quite liking the HIS iceQ boost as i have read it had the best cooling. Not sure whether or not i will be wanting to overclock but i think it might be best to have the option to incase i decide to in the future

gigabyte have any advantages over the HIS iceQ boost?
They both have good cooling solutions, the Gigabyte perhaps running slightly cooler but not enougn to make any real difference to overclocks (due mainly to the GPU lottery). The HIS does have the bonus of having the latest turbo bios pre-installed, so maybe that might swing it. Both seem good (better than average).

Ordered HIS iceQ boost after reading reviews. According to the review i'v read on all 7950 cards the IceQ has the best cooling of them all? and the bonus of having the 4 free games with it.

The monitor i have (Samsung S23A750D 23" 120Hz 3D Widescreen Ultra Thin LED Monitor) is only 120Hz when connected through the DP port. Does anyone know if i use a HDMI to DP cable (HDMI into GPU and DP into monitor) will this still give me 120Hz? only asking as DP - HDMI cables seem easier to come by than mini DP - DP.
Thanks

Thanks

Enjoy your new card. :)

I managed to find a Mini-dp to dp 1.8metre cable but not from ocuk as they do not , so far as I can tell, stock such.
Not allowed to advise as to where I got it - competitor rules - it was on line and cost less than £6.:)

yea iv also found one but its not next day delivery and Im a very inpatient person lol. That's why i asked the question about a mini dp - hdmi as there are local stores that sell them

You are not sure if you are going to overclock so don't worry too much about which has the best cooling.

I think you should overclock though, it is an unwritten law with 7950 cards :D

Gigabyte windforce gets my vote even though I have an MSI TF3.

edit; Just noticed you have already ordered so ignore my last comment.

I am running 2 HIS IceQ Boost 7950's in CF.

Performance and temps are out of this world. To give you an indication of what I mean, I was previously running 2 XFX 7870 Core Edition's, the top GPU would hit circa 90 degrees, and the fan was hideously noisy.

These two in CF never go about 65 even after leaving Heaven running for 1 hour, and I cannot hear the fan at all, and to boot performance is even better.
