Hi, my beyer DT234's which I use for pc gaming have just died on me and I'm looking to replace them with a better headset. The DT290's are within my budget, look to be better built and will hopefully give me a marked improvement over the DT234.
Has anyone had any experience of this headset and could someone confirm if these are suitable for an X-fi sound card as they're 80ohms (the dt234's are 32 ohm iirc). I've tried my Senn HD600's (300 ohms iirc) in the soundcard to see if they're driven ok and they seemed to work fine. Would the DT290's cable be terminated with two 3.5mm jacks as per the DT234's (second for the mic)or will I have to invest in a pair of 3.5mm jacks?
I loved the comfort, sound quality the dt234's gave me and I have yet to find a headset to better them (tried the medusa's and senn pc160's which were inferior imo).
If anyone knows of a headset that's better than the DT290's for <£140 could you point me in the right direction please.

Thanks

Isnt the HD-600s one of the bet cans in the world? There about £150 online too.

The 650s are 200+, one that u might consider is the 595s @ 50ohms nice and easy to drive directly plugged to the source and there direct/upfront also and very comfy since they sit over your ears and on your head there a bargain at 99 quid from richersounds.

You may want to post on AV forums/headfi forums though for more replies ;)

Yes the hd600's are one of the best headphones money can buy. I currently use them in my headphone amp set up, but, they have been seconded to use with the pc whilst I find a Suitable HEADSET replacement for my dt234's.
I really need a headset as I'll need the mic for teamspeak sessions during bf2 and counterstrike. The dt290's seemed to be a suitable upgrade for me and just wondered if anyone had any thoughts about them or if a superior product existed for the same money. If the hd600's came with an integrated mic I'd probably find the extra capital required and purchase another pair for pc use. :D

I have also posted on the avforums (before here) but have yet to get a reply ;)
