I'm currently using a turtle beach from a xbox one with a splitter and the splitter really kills the quality.

It's time to get a proper PC Headset now so I can hear those footsteps properly

also a question i have is I'm using a single 3.5 to a splitter that comes out to mic and sound, are the new head sets for pc duel 3.5mm or single?

If can stretch to an extra £10, Beyerdynamic MMX300 can be had for £100 on the famous auction site from a reputable seller. Great headset based on their DT770 headphones that once retailed for a lot more.

If not, then HyperX Cloud II is a solid choice.

Cloud II is USB, although the USB dongle can be removed to use jacks if need be. MMX300 comes with two cables. One for single 4 pole 3.5mm jack for use with consoles and one cable with 2x 3.5mm jacks for PC use.

Has the 1st gen MMX300s disappeared? Seen several people on OcUK mention the 1st gen version and it's £100 price tag but every search result comes up with the 2nd gen and they cost £250.

Am trying to buy some HyperX Cloud 2s but came across the MMX300s which sound even better.

Looks like it. Can't see them on the famous auction site. Worth checking periodically though, in case polar audio (seller) relists them.

I thought they'd sold out while back, when I couldn't find them. Not long after someone else posted that they were still available. At some point stock will run out as they are EOL. May have already.
