Best horror game of all time

Oh man, there's been so many.

Silent Hill 2 probably has to be right up there, at the time it was horrifying but not sure how well it would stand up today.

Aliens Vs Predator 2 (2001) was amazing as well and then System Shock 2.

I know it's a new game but Alien Isolation gets a mention purely for being the only game to put me on edge the entire time. The atmosphere is just incredible.

In my personal opinion i would have to go with Silent hill 2 aswell though i do recall dropping a few stools as a young lad playing resident evils 1-3

Damn! Forgot about that one. Yeah that's probably battling for top spot with Silent Hill 2. Played that game so many times
 
Have to admit I don't play too many 'Horror games', but of those i've played I guess I would have to say Resident Evil.
 
amnesia the dark descent really freaked me out and was probably the scariest but in terms of the "BEST" horror game rather than the most frighting..... I would have to pick Resident Evil 2

I don't play horror games very often as I'm a big wuss but back in the day I loved this game. Those damn dogs which jump through the windows early on in the Mansion...:eek:
 
I guess the best way for me to judge this would be based on games that left me in a whimpering mess, F.E.A.R and Resident Evil are right at the top.. too close to call.
 
Resident Evil Remake or Silent Hill 2, hard for me to decide between them!.

Fatal Frame 2 would take the third spot for me... then maybe SH: Shattered Memories.
 
System Shock 2 and AvP as mentioned above are probably the 2 games I've found the most tense.

F.E.A.R had a few moments that "get you" the first time around but I didn't find it that scary overall.
 
Silent hill 2 was scary but in a really oppressive way. The despair was tangible and most of the endings were crushing. It was more psychologically disturbing.
So yeah, silent hill 2

Silent Hill 2 I stayed up in the wee hours playing that, scared the **** out of me but couldn't stop playing it.

Agree with AvP2 as well, specially when the beeps start.

I enjoyed the first F.E.A.R to, the creepyness of that game was just right with Alma popping up now and again.

Condemned: Criminal Origins as to get a mention to :)
 
I love the first few Resident Evil games but Amnesia: The Dark Descent genuinely gave me a few "Oh ****!" moments.
