Best i5 for gaming???

@voidshatter you use Winrar? who still uses Winrar? aside from it being absolute junk its a vehicle for viruses. nothing ever good has come out of anything you dowloaded and need Winrar to open.

Use 7Zip.... like the rest of the world.

Oh and have a little respect for yourself, not every thread needs you peddling Intel at any cost to your integrity.

current i5s are pointless for the most part, may change with coffeelake but I doubt it

I have to agree with the rest, R5 1600 OC'ed to approx 4 GHz is a better choice. i5 are a thing of the past. If you however insist on i5, go for i5-7600K, but only after seeing some Youtube benchmarks.

Wait for pricing and reviews on that one ^^^^ but my guess in the i5 CoffeLake will be no less than £250 with only 6 Compute threads.

I think the massive difference in Minimum FPS in a couple of these games says a lot about the i5's miserable 4 compute threads.

Current i5's are not "gaming CPU's" no way....

The best i5 is the 2500K, the best availvible today is the Ryzen 1600. That said for the price of an i5 system you can almost build a Ryzen 1700. So the best i5 would be an 8 core 16 thread 1700.
